About Ford RideLondon FreeCycle

Ford RideLondon FreeCycle is the ultimate ride for cyclists of all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Set on a traffic-free route, the event is a unique opportunity to explore central London by bike – and it's completely free to take part!

RideLondon, which has featured a Women’s UCI WorldTour race, mass participation rides over 100 miles, 60 miles and 30 miles and FreeCycle, will not take place in 2025 as the organisers work on a new concept for the world’s greatest festival of cycling. Full refunds will be given to everyone who has entered the 2025 RideLondon-Essex 100 mile event (entries for the 60 and 30-mile events have not opened).

Participants with disabilities

In 2024, disabled participants could enjoy a one-hour ride on a side-by-side cycle with a friendly Cycle Connect pilot as they guided them along the traffic-free FreeCycle route!

Bookings could be made for up to three passengers departing from Embankment Station, St Paul’s Churchyard Festival Zone, or Lincoln’s Inn Fields at 10:00, 11:30 and 13:30 on Sunday 26 May 2024.

The Ford RideLondon FreeCycle route

The seven-mile route will take you on a journey through some of London’s most famous locations, from St Paul’s Cathedral and Somerset House to world-famous Buckingham Palace and The Mall. You can do as many loops as you like, and you'll have the chance to hop on and off at various places, should you wish.

As well as enjoying a great day of cycling, you'll be able to take a break from your bike and try free fun activities for all the family along the route. The event includes two Festival Zones at Aldwych and St Paul’s along with the RideLondon HUB at Trafalgar Square, where riders can stop for mechanical help, food and drink and enjoy activities such as music, games and face painting – we'll let you know what's on and where via regular newsletters as the big day approaches!

Sticking together safely

To help you and any family and friends you’re riding with find each other easily should you get separated on the Ford RideLondon FreeCycle route, we’re installing coloured flags at every half mile.

Safeguarding flags

So when you spot the flags above, use them as meeting points and distance markers – so if you’re riding with children, for example, you could tell them not to go any further than the next flag.

If you need help along the way, you can find members of our Welfare Team at each of the Festival Zone Information Points, as well as at the Ford RideLondon HUB at Trafalgar Square. These locations are also a safe place to arrange to meet.

Don't miss the Ford RideLondon HUB!

It will host a wealth of free entertainment and activities for everyone to enjoy, including bike skills demonstrations and live music!
